Kareena is not ready to forgive the Bachchans

The Kapoors and the Bachchans have been thick Bollywood pals for long. Until of course the much publicized Karisma Kapoor – Abhishek Bachchan breakup happened. Of late there has been news of the family friends getting back together.But according to fiesty Kareena they are just rumours as nothing of that sort is happening or likely to happen in the future.She has reportedly said, “The ‘patch-up’ decision cannot be taken individually. This one’s quite complicated, since the two families are involved now. There’s no truth to the news-report about our teaming together. There’s no project on the cards either.” Apparently she was miffed with Abhishek too as there were rumours of him being responsible for getting her replaced with Priyanka Chopra in Karan Johar’s ‘Dostana’. Kareena sings another tune altogether and says, “I have moved on. Karan is a brother and he has offered me a far more challenging role in his next film that will be directed by Rensil D’Silva.”It seems Kareena’s actually not ready to forgive the Bachchans yet.

Abhishek had apparently also extended the olive branch and said that he would love to work with Bebo again as she was his first heroine which makes her very special. But Bebo really seems totally uninterested.She’s too busy concentrating on her career and enjoying the luck bestowed upon her (even a senseless ‘Golmaal Returns’ has done well) to think of the Bachchans! Maybe she’ll change her mind when the days are bad!

Big B starts writing his blog in Hindi!

In a recent development which has delighted the Hindi language fans, the megastar of Indian Film industry has learnt and started writing his blog in hindi language. Apparently, he is very happy to have discovered how to write in Hindi. He says “The facility to be able to write through the computer in Hindi; a kind input from a dear reader, Abhishek, has made me so happy. I was disturbed when I was unable to do that. But now I am at peace. Thank you.” This however does not mean that he has stopped writing in English. In his unique “superstar” style he says “If I have an opportunity to express some of my sentiments in my Mother tongue, I shall not hesitate to do so, whether there is someone to read it or not. I have always maintained a balance in my life and in my conduct. I shall continue with that. If there is thought in English that needs to be put in Hindi I shall endeavor to do that and vice versa. The English language too is a great absorber of other tongues within its European ambience. We must never disrespect the Mother tongue of another, nor its belief or its importance.”

If the number of comments on the blog are any indication, Big B is as popular as ever even with today’s generation. Lot of commentators refer to the star as “uncle” and almost everyone goes ga-ga over him. A lot of comments talk about his illness and pray for his well-being.

Big B in Sanjay Dutt’s film

Sanjay Dutt adores Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan like his own father and brother. But even though he hesitates to approach Big B for his film. Sanjay wanted Big B to act in his film but he is shy to approach him and has left information in his office. On knowing, Bachchan’s reaction was “All he (Dutt) has to do is ask.”Dharam Oberoi, CEO Sanjay Dutt Productions, confirms, “Sanju Baba does want Mr Bachchan in the film to be directed by Soham Shah. He quietly left a message. But now when he and Bhabhiji (Manayata) return from their holiday Baba will drop in to finalize it.”The film also stars Zayed Khan in a pivotal role but interestingly, Sanju baba will not be acting. He will only play the role of producer. There is an interesting story lying behind the script, it is the same script that Soham was supposed to make for Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and later for Ajay Devgan.

Dutt loved the script and had promised Soham he’d do it with him whenever he made it.

Amitabh thanks fans, hits out at media on blog

Bolywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who was discharged Friday from the Lilavati Hospital here after being treated for an abdominal condition, has thanked his fans for their good wishes but has hit out at the media for being “insensitive” while reporting on his illness.“My sincerest thanks to all who gave me strength to fight another medical battle. The fans and well-wishers. The media friends who wrote in on my mobile. Friends who visited me at the hospital and those that wrote in. Strangers who I never met or know,” Amitabh wrote on his blog Friday.“Your love overwhelms me. Your concern for my well-being humbles me. I owe so much to you,” the blog further read.Amitabh slammed the media in the blog and mocked at their paparazzi approach when he was being taken to hospital in an ambulance after he had complained of abdominal pain on his 66th birthday on October 11.“There is a muted silence outside.

No one says a word, except the media. They clamour and scream for that exclusive shot, invading the sanctity of the ambulance. They would never understand the sensitivity of the situation,” he wrote.He added: “Media is an added hindrance to a smooth, quick emergent ride to Nanavati. If they had their way they would ideally want to be seated on the stretcher with me and have me answering questions - ‘What would be the celebrations for the birthday sir and will you be inviting Shah Rukh’. Insensitive. Callous.”

Posting two back-to-back notes Friday evening, Amitabh also explained his hospital experience in detail from the time he was rushed first to Nanavati Hospital and followed by his stay in Lilavati hospital where he was shifted the same day.Diagnosed with incisional hernia, the Big B had been in hospital for a week. He went back home in his own car and was accompanied by son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.The star said he had plans of “rest and recuperation” at home apart from giving company to the women in his house for a quick glance of the moon from the roof to break their fast on Karva Chauth, which he termed a “torturous practice”.

Aamir Khan gifts books to Big B at hospital

Aamir Khan was reportedly at loggerheads with Amitabh Bachchan thanks to criticism in his blog about Big B’s film Black and his acting in it. This was at the time when Aamir’s directorial debut Taare Zameen Par was about to be released. Much was later written in the media about each other’s comments to each other. But then all mouths got shut when Amitabh Bachchan made an appearance at Aamir’s production Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na premiere at PVR Multiplex in Goregaon, Mumbai. He not only congratulated Aamir’s nephew Imran Khan who debuted with the film but also made appearance on news channels when the Jaane Tu team was being questioned by the nation. He spoke on TV how good the film was and also praised Imran’s acting and Aamir’s marketing skills. Then there was a buzz in the media about Aamir directing Big B in his next irectorial, which was meant to be a sci-fi thriller. But it remained just a rumour as Aamir denied that. Now Aamir has expressed his concern for the ageing superstar. He said, “I am in regular touch with Abhishek over Amitji’s health.

I am SMSsing him at regular intervals to get his health update. I am happy to find out now that he is in stable condition and that he shall be discharged anytime soon. I have been really busy with my work that’s why I haven’t got a chance to go and visit him in the hospital. But I will definitely take some time out and visit him at his house.”When we asked Aamir what kind of programmes he prefers to watch on TV, he replied, “I like comedy serials like FRIENDS. Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was on Saturday admitted to the Lilavati hospital here after he complained of abdominal pain due to suspected incisional hernia, giving anxious moments to millions of fans on his 66th birthday.

“There is no cause for worry. We are giving him the best possible treatment. He will soon be up and about and go back to work,” hospital spokesman Mohanranjan said, adding Mr. Bachchan had undergone tests and his condition was “stable.”

He underwent blood investigation and CT scan of the abdomen, a bulletin read by Mr. Mohanranjan said. Mr. Bachchan is in suite 1101 on the 11th floor with wife Jaya Bachchan, son Abhishekh, daughter-in-law Aishwarya and other relatives by his side. Mr. Bachchan was admitted to the hospital “with a history of abdominal pain which has been relieved by medicines,” the bulletin said.

The cause of pain was being investigated by a team of doctors and the report would be available on Sunday morning based on which further treatment would be decided, it said.

“We respect the patient’s rights and confidentiality and hence would not like to discuss this matter further,” the bulletin added.

Akshay confirms he will replace Amitabh in Deepa Mehta film

Akshay Kumar has himself confirmed that he will be replacing Amitabh Bachchan in Oscar nominated director Deepa Meht’as Komgata Maru. Akshay Kumar says, “I’m not used to working with the Oscar nominated directors so it is a great privilege to work with Deepa Mehta. The subject of this film has moved me, as it is a true representation and a testimony to human struggles for freedom, justice and equality. I want to portray this real life tragedy to the world identifying how injustice was done to innocent people. It is an hour for me to play one of the bravest Sikhs, Gurdit Singh, in this tragic forgotten moment in history. I salute those brave souls who sacrificed their lives for justice and equality today.”As to why Amitabh Bachchan was dropped from the film… this is not known. “This is an extremely important opportunity for me to reveal a significant moment in Canadian history and illustrate the steadfast bravery of the Sikh community who sacrificed so much to help create a more tolerant community within my adopted country,” says Deepa Mehta. Komagata Maru is a Canadian production being produced by Hamilton-Mehta Production Inc. in association with Akshay Kumar’s home production, Hari Om Entertainment.

The film’s budget ranges from $ 30-35 million dollars approximate and is currently in pre-production. It will begin full production in September 2009. The story will be filmed in various locations around the world. The film will be distributed in Canada by Mongrel Media.

SRK-Bachchan ‘Mohabbatein’ continues

The first lady of Bollywood found herself in a soup for what seemed to be an innocent throwaway remark. Jaya Bachchan’s supposed ‘anti-Marathi’ comments were enough to pit India’s most famous filmy family against a growing political force in the city. The controversy snow-balled, effigies were burnt, posters slashed and anti-Jaya statements continued amidst more vandalism. Clearly, it could not have been a worse time for husband Amitabh to be on tour in Paris and daughter-in-law Aishwarya to be in Peru for the shoot of Robot. Son Abhishek too was busy getting work commitments out of the way, and the North Indian versus Maratha issue was threatening to raise its ugly head again.

At a time like this, Jaya was left to deal with the embarrassment, guilt and aggravation all by herself. She was made to feel less perturbed and more protected though, when a certain competitor of the Bachchans called. That’s right. Shah Rukh Khan immediately picked up the phone and spoke words of comfort to Jaya, ensuring her that the industry was by her side. Only a few months ago, the Big B posted TRPs of his show Kaun Banega Crorepati along with those of SRK’s Paanchvi Pass on his blog. But while the media and fans of SRK voiced their revulsion at the imprudent act, the man in question remained calm and collected. Amitabh to sign first international film project

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan may feature in an international film project to be made by makers of the 2006 Oscar-winning documentary “March of the Penguin”.The actor who is in Paris wrote on his blog that he may give his consent to the project, which will be made in English. It will be produced and directed by the French makers who made ‘March of the Penguin’.The new film will be set in India and France. Perhaps work starts next year end. “That is all that one can talk of right now,” he said.Bachchan had earlier written that the French director of the Oscar winner wanted him in his film that he wishes to make and the two would be meeting in Paris to discuss the details.”March of the Penguin” directed by Luc Jacquet is about Antartica’s emperor Penguins, which earned 77 million USD at the US box office.

Big B also said that he had got a Hollywood offer. “There is another project from the writer of Taxi Driver and Raging Bull from Hollywood and I shall need to see the script before I consider any further,” he said.

Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in The Last Lear has been tagged as his best ever. But he says that his best is yet to be seen. “It would be a terrible day for an artiste if people classify his contribution as his best. That would be the end of his work. There is always an opportunity to work better and the best is yet to come,” Amitabh said.He added: “I am a simple actor. As long as I am offered challenging roles, I would like to take them and experiment with acting always.” Amitabh was here with his team of The Last Lear including actors Arjun Rampal, Shefali Shah and Divya Dutta, director Rituparno Ghosh and producer Arindam Chaudhuri to promote the film last week. Though Preity Zinta plays a pivotal role in the film, she gave the event a miss, as she was busy shooting for a film abroad.
