Arshad Warsi has finally found a heroine for his first home production

After going through a whole roster of ‘could-be’ leading ladies and hearing a ‘no’ from many of them, Arshad Warsi has finally found a heroine for his first home production - and it’s none other than Diya Mirza.
Though Arshad is tight-lipped about his heroine crisis, getting the right girl for his first film to be directed by Kabeer Kaushik has not been easy. Tentatively titled “I Believe In Angels”, the film is to go on floor in London in July. Said a source close to the actor: “All the girls who were Arshad’s pals turned him down. Arshad is in a peculiar place right now. He’s seen as a natural scene-stealer but not leading-man material. The big heroines are wary of being paired with him. Lara Dutta said no to ‘Short Cut’ though it was an Anil Kapoor production when she heard Arshad was one of the leading men.”
But Diya gladly said yes.
“First of all I’ve always enjoyed Arshad’s performances and it’s an honour to be in a film produced by him. Then when I heard the script, I simply fell in love with my role and the script. Every character is so beautifully written and I’m sure Arshad’s first production is going to turn out to be very special,” the Bollywood beauty said.
Diya plays a very sweet angelic character in “I Believe In Angels”.
“I’ve that image. And I suit it. Though I’m not bound by the sweet image, I don’t mind being perceived as ideal for angelic roles at a time when every second girl enjoys playing the wicked ones.”

Sony Entertainment Television’s Bigg Boss got a lot of eyeballs for its catfights between Rakhi Sawant and Kashmera Shah, Anupama Verma’s love story with Aryan Vaid and finally, Rahul Roy’s victory. Now, the season two is already on its way.According to rumours, Sony Entertainment Television’s Bigg Boss got a lot of eyeballs for its catfights between Rakhi Sawant [Images] and Kashmera Shah, Anupama Verma’s love story with Aryan Vaid and finally, Rahul Roy’s victory.the producers, Endemol India, have sold the format to Viacom Entertainment and Communications. The format in the new season will be different because this time, there will be celebrities as well as common folk living in the house.
Arshad Warsi will be back as the show’s host. Apparently, he is being offered a whooping Rs 5 crores for the show.

Arshad Warsi’s national embarrassment

Arshad Warsi was recently highly embarrassed with the announcement of the National Awards. The best actor in a supporting role in the prestigious awards was won by “Lage Raho Munna Bhai”, and people took it as it would be Arshad Warsi. Even the actor presumed that it was him. Only after that the awards were announced that he came to know that it wasn’t him and the award was won by the actor who played Gandhi!!
First my family and close friends saw my name being flashed on television non-stop. They rang me up to tell me I had won the National award for Munnabhai. I was like, ‘Yesss. I’ve finally done it. Throughout the day I got congratulatory sms. But then in the evening the bubble burst. I was told that the guy who played Gandhi had got it. Tough luck,” says the actor going pink with embarrassment.
Poor thing….best of luck next time Arshad!!

Arshad doesn’t know whether to be amused or exasperated.His release this week. Mr White Mr Black was earlier entitled Mr Black Mr White. “But then Subhash Ghai’s film Black & White came along. To avoid confusion the film’s title was flipped around. Aisa hota hai Bollywood mein,” he says wrily and adds, “It’s a nice clean comedy and that’s the only kind of comedy I can do.I can’t do sleazy double-meaning comedies.That’s one reason why I enjoyed doing Krazzy 4,” he says from Goa where he’s shooting for Gol Maal Returns. “It’s so hot here. From now on I’ve decided to put a clause in my contract. I won’t shoot anywhere that the tempertaure rises above 20 degrees. I’ll call it the temperature clause.” For his birthday on April 19 Arshad was shooting in the middle of the ocean in Mauritius for a song in Neera Vora’s Short Cut.”I was in Bangkok for almost two months, came back to Mumbai for two days and left for Mauritius. Now I’m in Goa and then I go to London for a long schedule.I’m seriously thinking of getting NRI status. As for my birthday, normally I don’t like birthdays. They’re so embarrassing. But this one was special. Because my choreographer Bosco and 20 dancers got into a catamaran with 200 beer bottles and just sailed away into a high sky…It was…liberating,” Arshad chuckles at the memory.Equally liberating is the sleazebag he plays in Shor Cut. “I’ve never played a more despicable character in my life. I never thought I’d play someone so lowdown. When I watched myself I thought, shit how could anyone be so cheap?!”Arshad has attempted a new kind of acting in the role. “See I play a bad actor. So when the camera is on I do some terrible acting. When my character is off-sets he’s a bad actor trying to behave like a normal decent guy which he is not. I just hope audiences get the point and don’t accuse me of hamming.”No hamming involved in his first production which goes on the floors on July 10. “I am yet to get a proper title for it. Though tentatively we’ve called it I Believe In Angels.Everyone thinks angrezi titles don’t work. So we’re searching for a title and a heroine. No one wants to work with me. I think I need to have a long talk with God…or maybe plastic surgery will help?”Arshad regrets missing out on Teen Patti with the Big B. “I’m dying to work with Mr Bachchan. But I couldn’t possibly mess around with my dates in a film that stars him. Next time. Is Madhavan doing my role? Good He’s a cool guy and a good actor.”
