Actor Ameesha Patel may be flying high these days… what else can one expect when you have a London-based industrialist for a boyfriend, huh? But then yet again, in spite of this classy, illustrious dil ka connection, Patel finds herself being compared to the likes of Rakhi Sawant. And that, she’s not too happy with. It’s the mad New Year’s Eve fiasco that has got B-wood in a flurry. Who is charging how much for a performance this festive season is the big question… And the buzz doing the rounds is that the bold and entertaining Rakhi is being paid more to shake her booty than our sophisticated, suave Amy baby. This rumour has affected Ameesha quite a bit. ‘After all she’s in the big league, working with Sanjay Dutt, Govinda, Saif…’ says a friend of the actor’s, ‘So she being paid less than Rakhi sounds so far fetched!’ How far these actors will go and how much they’ll fetch, we don’t know dearies! But the mull over the moolah is here to stay, as the cats do their clawing and pawing for their share of the performer’s pie!

The stomach certainly seems the way to a man’s heart especially in Ameesha Patel’s case. The actress is learning to cook different kinds of dishes and even go grocery shopping. All because industrialist beau Kanav Puri is a big foodie.Ameesha says, “Kanav is the only man I’ve cooked for. I am learning more as he’s into food and eating. During my college days, I used to cook chicken roast, bake cakes and even make daal as well as beef steak.”But after becoming an actress, she didn’t have time to pursue cooking due to the hectic shooting schedule. “But now that I am living on my own, I often go shopping at the supermarket for foodstuff. I am constantly sourcing various types of cheese and meats as Kanav loves lambs, pork and hams. Nowadays, even if I make a simple sandwich, I try and make it interesting.”She states that she has always had a sense of taste and flavour. “Even when I am making chaat or bhelpuri, I mix and show everything to my cook so he can do it up properly.”
Ameesha adds, “Now the best dishes I can whip up are pasta and kheema mutton curry.”

She shot to fame with ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hai’, but since then Ameesha Patel seems to have faded out of the limelight. Now the actor seems to have reinvented herself - at least cosmetically - for her newest film, ‘Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic’.If one thought that ‘Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic’ was all about Saif Ali Khan - Rani Mukherjee and the four kids, then one need to have a look at an item number in the movie. Cameo specialist Ameesha Patel will be doing yet another ’special appearance’ in the movie and this time she plays an item girl.Ahead of the release of the movie an elated Ameesha said, “You have to watch the movie for the item number. I have worn clothes which I have never worn before.” However, this doesn’t come as a surprise to many, going by the latest dare-to-bare trend in Bollywood. But Ameesha believes that the recent trends has nothing to do with her appearance in the movie. Ameesha may deny following the herd, but one wonders if the actor is left with any other choice but featuring in an item number. After all, when there’s no acting skill to boast of, it’s the sex quotient that one resorts to in Bollywood — a formula that Ameesha, too, seems to have hit upon.

Rani Mukherjee is envious of Ameesha’s closeness to Kunal Kohli

The close friendship of director Kunal Kohli and actress Ameesha Patel is giving top name Rani Mukherjee the jitters… Rani feels that Ameesha is stealing the limelight from her. Initially, Ameesha’s role in Kunal Kohli’s flick Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic was supposed to be only a guest appearance. However, because of her closeness with the director, the role has been extended… and now Ameesha is being promoted as one of the lead heroines in the flick. This isn’t going down well with Rani Mukherjee, who was hoping to make this film all her own. A source says, “Kunal seems to be taken in by Amisha’s soft nature and even fought with Aditya Chopra to get Amisha’s role extended in TPTM. And he has made her look stunning in the film, unlike Rani, who’s looking uninspired. The effort and care that has gone into Amisha’s character is very apparent.” When Rani noticed Ameesha promoting the film as her own, she immediately went to boyfriend Aditya Chopra (producer of the film) and demanded Ameesha back off. Aditya then told Kunal to put the breaks on Ameesha or else he will never be allowed to work for Yash Raj Films again. In related news, there are reports that Ameesha Patel has split from boyfriend Kannav Puri, because of her alleged new-found love for Kunal Kohli. Amisha’s spokesperson says, “Amisha and Kannav haven’t broken up.” And adds that she doesn’t want to comment on her friendship with Kunal.

Billoo Barber: Juhi Chawla to replace Amisha

In all likelihood, Juhi Chawla will replace Amisha Patel after the latter walked out of Priyadarshan’s Billo Barber. Produced by Shah Rukh Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner, Billo Barber is rumoured to be the story of Lord Krishna and his best friend Sudama. Shah Rukh will play Krishna whereas Irrfan Khan will play Sudama. But the film is set in modern times. Amisha was offered a small but vital role as Irrfan’s wife in the film. But she opted out because she felt the role was too insignificant.In Priyadarshan’s earlier film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Amisha had a small but important role as well. But this time, it looks like the actress wanted better.Left with no heroine, it is learnt that SRK has requested his good friend Juhi to step in.Shah Rukh and Juhi have been close friends since 1992’s Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, when Juhi was a star and Shah Rukh, a relative newcomer. They had also formed their production company, Dreamz Unlimited, which made the flop, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. The last time SRK and Juhi were seen together in a film was Paheli, also produced by Red Chillies.

Ameesha Patel may have become almost famous for grabbing Shah Rukh Khan starrer Billo Barber but all is not well in the actress’s paradise. Ameesha we hear has dropped out of the project which is a remake of the Malayalam film Katha Parayumbol. She is not too excited about playing the miniscule role of a barber’s wife.A source close to the actress says, “Ameesha feels that she might get lost as the film which essentially concentrates on Shah Rukh and Irrfan Khan. Ameesha who is making a serious attempt at reviving her career, cannot keep playing these functional characters.” The actress, who has previously worked with Priyadarshan in Bhool Bhoolaiya, explained the situation to the filmmaker and made a gracious exit from the project. Priyadarshan who wants to start filming May is not too happy with his so-called leading lady calling it quits.An industry insider adds, “Priyadarshan had a tough time convincing actresses to star in the film with most of them unanimously terming the role as insignificant.” Meanwhile, the buzz doing the rounds is that Priyadarshan might settle for a popular face from the South. Both Ameesha and Priyadarshan were not available for comment.

Amisha Patel moves into the big league with Priyadarshan’s latest film, Billo Barber. The Shah Rukh Khan-Irrfan Khan starrer is a remake of the Malayalam film, Katha Parayumbol. It revolves around a humble village barber (Irrfan) and his superstar friend (SRK). Amisha plays the barber’s wife and also shares substantial screen space with Shah Rukh. It’s almost a dream come true for the chirpy actress who is known for gushing over SRK, say industry sources. A source close to Amisha says, “Amisha has made a blink-and-a-miss appearance in Om Shanti Om alongside Shah Rukh. Now she has a full-fledged role in Billo Barber. Naturally, she is very excited.” After having broken up with filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, the actress seems to be concentrating hard on her career and is breezing in and out of high-profile filmi meetings. The source adds, “Amisha is trying to resurrect her flagging career and get her hands on a few big films this year. Also, she is very happy with her present industrialist boyfriend Kanav, who keeps motivating her.”Amisha sure has her hands full with a new boyfriend and a new film with Shah Rukh.
