In the world of the Kanganas and the Katrinas, it’s difficult for a girl with a simple and sweet image like Amrita Rao to hold her own. Even actresses who started off as girls next door like Minissha Lamba are trying hard for a super sexy makeover.But Amrita Rao is doing well, her own way. This, inspite of being criticized time and again for being a behenji. After playing a convincing teen in ‘Main Hoon Na’ and a few flops later, she went ahead and turned simple and sweet for ‘Vivaah’ and the well made ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’. In between there was a slightly sexy makeover for ‘My name is Anthony Gonsalves’ which didn’t do her a world of good since the movie tanked. People seem to like Amrita only sweet and simple.Now the lass is getting a chance to star with Amitabh Bachchan in Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s next flick.She’ll be playing Arjun Rampal’s wife and Tabu and Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter-in-law in his upcoming film, ‘The Legend of Kunal’.According to the director, it is a very difficult role for Amrita. Though Tabu plays the central character, Amrita is very important to the central drama. Tabu portrays trishna (thirst), whereas Amrita shows purity and honesty. It was Mrs Jaya Bachchan who suggested Amrita’s name for the role of Kanchanmala.

And since she’s both delicate and strong and can stand up against a powerful Tabu, she’s being rightly cast.Now that’s lots of praise for the young actress. Should we say inspiration for the few simple girls of B-Town?

Why Amrita didn’t wear Indian clothes?

It seems to us that Amrita Rao forgot to be Indian at her own movie premier ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’. Don’t worry, by not being Indian we just meant that she forgot to wear Indian clothes which was the dress code that night.‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’ is a movie based on the rural side of India, so all the casts were to wear Indian attire all the time. Maybe this motivated the director to have the theme of his movie premier also to be on the Indian side.Obeying all the orders given the entire cast, as well as the invitees, were in Indian attire. The list includes Shreyas Talpade, Ravi Kissen, Celina Jeitley, Illa Arun, Shabana Azmi, Aushotosh Rana, Divya Dutt, Yashpal Sharma, Shayam Benegal, Rajshwari Sachdeva etc.The sole odd one out was the lead heroine of the movie, ‘Amrita Rao’. Dressed in entirely the opposite side of Indian, Amrita was seen in a white formal suit. So why did Amrita choose to go the other way? We do have a few options ready for you to guess.
A. Because she wanted to look different, so that she gets more attention.
B. Because she was very bored off wearing Indian all the time during the shoot.
C. Because she hates the director.
D. Because she likes to pave her own way, and don’t like to follow others.
E. Because she is disobedient and very stubborn.
F. Last but not the least, Because she is “Amrita Rao”

MF Hussain’s gift for Amrita Rao

Receiving three paintings dedicated to herself by the great artist MF Hussain himself as a birthday gift has not only upped her asset portfolio but also ‘humbled her’. However, there are other things that make the girl happy, too. Apparently, when she was shooting in Peru, South America, recently, she was taken aback when a group of locals rushed to her for an autograph, and their mobiles went click, click, click. That’s not all. They insisted that she see the photos that they had of her on their mobiles. “Some even had her picture as their screensaver,” we are told. Now how on earth did this Amrita craze hit Peru?

It was her film Vivaah that did the trick. They loved the movie, and what they loved even more was their Poonam (played by Amu) in it. Wonder if Vivaah co-star Shahid will draw as much fan-following as Peru’s Bollywood pari? Test ho jaye , Shahid?

Actress Amrita Rao does a cameo for Samar Khan

Samar Khan is ready with his second directorial venture, ‘Shaurya’ under the banner of Moser Baer. The film stars Rahul Bose, Kay Kay Menon, Javed Jaffrey, Minissha Lamba and Saif’s ex-girlfriend Rozza Catalano. But what is known to very few is the presence of Amrita Rao for a guest appearance in the film. “How did this get out? It was meant to be a surprise!” This is how the director, Samar Khan, reacted when being asked about Amrita Rao’s presence in the cast of his second directorial venture. “Amrita Rao is indeed in my film. Just how it happened is an interesting story. I didn’t intend to cast her. But she’s a dear friend, and wanted to be part of my film. So, I cast her in a very special role. I guess I’m blessed to have so many friends in the industry,” says the journalist-turned-director.

Samar is all praises for Amrita’s professionalism and should be, for Amrita has given her 100 percent even for her cameo. She was supposed to shoot only for a day. But that stretched into two days. Amrita gave the time without any complaint. Then she wasn’t happy with her dubbing. So, she did the dubbing again. Seems like the fragile and delicate lady has grown up into tough and hard-working actress!

Actress Amrita shoots a music video for Kwality Walls

Shooting a music video for the endorsements seems to have become a trend with Bollywood actresses. Aishwarya did it for Lux. Then , Kareena did it for Head and Shoulders.Now, it is the delicate doll of tinsel town, Amrita Rao, who will be seen in a music video for a commercial. It is believed that Amrita will be endorsing Kwality Walls and that Amrita Rao had recently shot at Mukesh Mills for the music video on this Sunday and Monday. The song has been sung by popular Pakistani band Jal which has not only sung for the video but will also be seen in video along with Amrita.

Amrita’s manager Uttam has also confirmed the news but didn’t reveal much about the same. Amrita is currently shooting for Shyam Benegal’s ‘Mahadev’. Her other films include ‘Shortcut’ with Shreyas Talpade and ‘Victory’ with newcomer Harman Baweja.

Bollywood actress Amrita Rao, who struck gold with her girl-next-door look in “Vivah”, is back after a year-long gap with “My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves”. She says that she doesn’t take any chances while selecting projects.”I was working for the Telugu film ‘Athidhi’. Also, my films, which are slated for release this year, kept me occupied,” Amrita told. “I have always been very careful about picking up projects because there is no second chance in Bollywood. If you go wrong with a movie you have to pay a very heavy price. “I must say I am very selective. But I wouldn’t deny being fortunate as good projects came my way. Otherwise, I would have just dreamt about doing something different,” she said on her recent visit to the national capital. The actress, who is essaying the role of an assistant director in “My Name…”, started her stint in the film industry with “Ab Ke Baras”. She earned rave reviews for her performance in films like “Masti” and “Main Hoon Na”. Commenting about her Telugu film industry experience, Amrita said: “It was wonderful to do well there, as it is a male-dominated industry. “It was a different and interesting experience. For instance, it was challenging to emote the right way on dialogues whose meaning I didn’t fully understand.” Amrita is upbeat about her forthcoming projects, which include “Victoria”, “Shortcut” and national award winning director Shyam Benegal’s “Mahadev”. The versatile star said she would love to do art house movies and finds it an opportunity of a lifetime to work with Benegal. “I would love to do arty roles. However, Benegal doesn’t only make art films… ‘Zubeidaa’ was a commercial film. It is just that his films have a strong story line and less songs and dances.” “I always wanted to work with him. Nothing could have been better than this opportunity.” Reluctant to divulge any details, Amrita said: “‘Mahadev’ is a character-driven film where the character I play speaks with a particular north Indian accent.”

Amrita Rao who is known for her decent and naïve like attitude surprised everybody by visiting a striptease bar.Though underage the lady got in by paying an extra 10 dollars. Accompanied by two of her friends she ventured out on the streetsAnd after witnessing the scenes within, Amrita promised herself that this was the first and last time she would be visiting a striptease bar.
She literally for the first time saw women stripping from top to bottom. If that wasn’t enough the women also went on to perform nude pole dances.The most embarrassing thing about the whole scene was the fact that she and her friend were the only girls in the room. Well, poor thing!!!!
