“No cause for worry”

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was on Saturday admitted to the Lilavati hospital here after he complained of abdominal pain due to suspected incisional hernia, giving anxious moments to millions of fans on his 66th birthday.

“There is no cause for worry. We are giving him the best possible treatment. He will soon be up and about and go back to work,” hospital spokesman Mohanranjan said, adding Mr. Bachchan had undergone tests and his condition was “stable.”

He underwent blood investigation and CT scan of the abdomen, a bulletin read by Mr. Mohanranjan said. Mr. Bachchan is in suite 1101 on the 11th floor with wife Jaya Bachchan, son Abhishekh, daughter-in-law Aishwarya and other relatives by his side. Mr. Bachchan was admitted to the hospital “with a history of abdominal pain which has been relieved by medicines,” the bulletin said.

The cause of pain was being investigated by a team of doctors and the report would be available on Sunday morning based on which further treatment would be decided, it said.

“We respect the patient’s rights and confidentiality and hence would not like to discuss this matter further,” the bulletin added.

Shahrukh Khan to retire in 3 years time

We reported a few months ago that Shah Rukh Khan was thinking about moving to Dubai… well his wife Gauri has already started making plans for building Mannat over there. Says a source, “Shah Rukh knows that his time in Bollywood as an actor is limited. An actor can only go on for so long and with the kind of roles he plays – young romantics – then he will not be able to do that for any longer. He is already getting old. Shah Rukh hopes to retire from films within the next ¾ years after which he will concentrate on production business. Shah Rukh will not make a complete exit from acting but intends to star in at least one film per year, but this will be for his own banner and the role will be of a supporting actor.”The source continues, “Shah Rukh has already started looking – and it has just been announced – for land in Dubai where he intends to build housing and shopping complexes. It is on this patch of land that Shah Rukh will build his much famous abode Mannat. He has already told his wife Gauri to make the plans and get the ideal design created. It has to be identical to Mannat in Mumbai. The Khans are much fond of this house.”

Well there you have it… King Khan is moving away to Dubai. We wish him well!

People seem to like Amrita only sweet and simple.Now the lass is getting a chance to star with Amitabh Bachchan in Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s next flick.She’ll be playing Arjun Rampal’s wife and Tabu and Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter-in-law in his upcoming film, ‘The Legend of Kunal’.According to the director, it is a very difficult role for Amrita. Though Tabu plays the central character, Amrita is very important to the central drama. Tabu portrays trishna (thirst), whereas Amrita shows purity and honesty. It was Mrs Jaya Bachchan who suggested Amrita’s name for the role of Kanchanmala.

And since she’s both delicate and strong and can stand up against a powerful Tabu, she’s being rightly cast.Now that’s lots of praise for the young actress. Should we say inspiration for the few simple girls of B-Town?

Sunidhi Chauhan replaced?

We have heard quite a lot of time that a famous singer has dub the song of a newcomer singer but this has happened for probably the first time in the industry that the song of famous singer like Sunidhi Chauhan has been dubbed by a new comer singer Khushboo Jain. Actually the music director Nikhil had recorded a song in the voice of Sunidhi Chauhan for the film “Deshdrohi” which was supposed to be picturised on Kim Sharma. However, when producer / actor Kamaal R. Khan heard the song, he completely rejected it and finally new comer singer Khushboo Jain dubbed the song.Nikhil felt so bad for Sunidhi that he gave her another song in “Deshdrohi” that also featured Sukhwinder Singh. However, when Kamaal R. Khan heard the song, he rejected it and again Khushboo Jain did the dubbing of the song.This song has been picturised on Rosa Catalano in the movie. So not one but now two songs of “Deshdrohi” have been dubbed by Khushboo Jain after being originally sung by sunidhi Chouhan

Akshay confirms he will replace Amitabh in Deepa Mehta film

Akshay Kumar has himself confirmed that he will be replacing Amitabh Bachchan in Oscar nominated director Deepa Meht’as Komgata Maru. Akshay Kumar says, “I’m not used to working with the Oscar nominated directors so it is a great privilege to work with Deepa Mehta. The subject of this film has moved me, as it is a true representation and a testimony to human struggles for freedom, justice and equality. I want to portray this real life tragedy to the world identifying how injustice was done to innocent people. It is an hour for me to play one of the bravest Sikhs, Gurdit Singh, in this tragic forgotten moment in history. I salute those brave souls who sacrificed their lives for justice and equality today.”As to why Amitabh Bachchan was dropped from the film… this is not known. “This is an extremely important opportunity for me to reveal a significant moment in Canadian history and illustrate the steadfast bravery of the Sikh community who sacrificed so much to help create a more tolerant community within my adopted country,” says Deepa Mehta. Komagata Maru is a Canadian production being produced by Hamilton-Mehta Production Inc. in association with Akshay Kumar’s home production, Hari Om Entertainment.

The film’s budget ranges from $ 30-35 million dollars approximate and is currently in pre-production. It will begin full production in September 2009. The story will be filmed in various locations around the world. The film will be distributed in Canada by Mongrel Media.

Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan doesn’t mind media attention, but asking her questions related to her brother Saif Ali Khan and his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor definitely rubs her the wrong way.”It’s very frustrating when people ask me about them, but it doesn’t annoy me any more. I very calmly and politely ask the media not to ask about them (Saif and Kareena),” Soha told reporters.”Not because I don’t want to speak about my brother or Kareena, but because I don’t speak for them in case the media is not able to reach them. I don’t want to be their spokesperson. Also, these questions are often private and I’m not comfortable with that,” she said.Soha had to face the media glare earlier when her gun licence was cancelled in May. She was also in the news for posing in a sexy, skimpy outfit for lifestyle magazine Maxim.All that is past and Soha is now relaxed, free of controversies and is enjoying every bit of entering a new decade in life.Having turned 30 on Oct 4, Soha says that she still feels like she’s 16, though her responsibilities in life have increased.

Malaysian award for Shah Rukh Khan upsets locals

A Malaysian state has defended its decision to give an honorary title to Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, reports said on Sunday.Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the title of ‘Datuk’, the equivalent of a knighthood in Britain, by Malacca in recognition of his promotion of the southern state through his films.Malacca Chief Minister Mohamad Ali Rustam said Khan had helped the state’s tourism because six of his movies involved locations in Malacca, the New Sunday Times quoted him as saying. This included the hit ‘One 2 Ka 4,’ which was shot at a resort in Malacca in 2001. But the move has stirred controversy. The Sunday Star newspaper said many Malaysians were astounded by the award.Opposition leader Lim Kit Siang, in a statement, said priority should be given to local artists.If Shah Rukh Khan deserves the award, then other foreign stars including Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones who shot the Hollywood movie ‘Entrapment’ in Kuala Lumpur in 1999 should also be given similar recognition, he said. ‘I thought the award is given to those who have contributed toward Malacca’s development.

I wonder whether Shah Rukh Khan even knows where Malacca is,” businesswoman Fatimah Tahir told the newspaper.But Ali said, ‘It would have cost millions to promote Malacca through advertisements, but instead Shah Rukh has brought Malacca to the attention of the world through his movies,” the Star reported.The 42-year-old Bollywood star was among more than 750 people given awards to mark the 70th birthday of Malacca’s nominal head of state, Mohamad Khalil Yaakob.

After Bips did her bit with Ranbir in Bachhna Aye Haseeno, the directors are into heavy linking of older heroines with younger heros! Aditya Chopra, is all set to cast his favourite Rani opposite Shahid. Though we have never actually seen Rani-Shahid together or thought of chemistry between them, the directors are probably experimenting them together. An even more interesting piece of news is that Rani and Shahid will be doing a bold scene in Aditya’s movie. We gotto see if this ageing bong babe will sizzle like she did in Hum Tum, Bunty aur Babli… a few of those where she was oomph in those steamy scenes.

Rani hopefully should come out of the gloomy days…

Grey matter and beauty - the deadly combo that Lara is, has still made her get ahead of her other counterparts like Priyanka and Katrina who have made themselves a fantastic top place and turning into the hot props. Lara has finally decided to pull her socks and get into the act of creating the much wanted name and place in the bollywood.She has been talking nineteen to a dozen about her upcoming film Blue and her new look (for which she got the international make-up artistes to work on her). Lara is a scuba diver in this thriller flick. Director Anthony D’Souza has footed huge bills for the production of this movie with the only aim of making it a super hit. All said and done, the movie also has Katrina doing an item number and this definitely means Lara has to work that much harder to get herself noticed and not get lost in the oblivion.Now does that make any sense why she has been talking to SRK and Irfan about Billoo Barber!

Ajay leaves Tusshar dumb struck!

A few days ago before leaving for Paris, when Ajay Devgan had a chat with Tusshar Kapoor about his next release Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Returns, little did Tusshar realise what was in store for him. Tusshar, who is presently in Tirupati, says, “Ajay saw Golmaal Returns before he left for London and Paris and told me that he appreciated my work in the film but I must be very particular about the dubbing. Ajay said to give myself completely to the character. I play a mute guy and it’s tougher for that to dub than actual dialogues. It was important that I experiment with my dubbing techniques and try something different. Ajay is a master at dubbing and he never takes more than one hour to dub for an entire film, so I took his advice seriously.” Tusshar says he practised so hard that after one particular scene, he lost his voice. “There was a particularly intense scene which had to be laughing continuously throughout and I dubbed so intensely that I lost my voice. I couldn’t dub for anything else that day and for the next couple of days. My sound recordist advised me to sip haldi, honey and milk for the two days till my voice became normal again. Though I play a mute, we don’t have too much of sign language in GR. It’s mostly body language which even the audiences will understand.”

Tusshar plays Kareena Kapoor’s brother, Lucky in Golmaal Returns. His ultimate goal is to see that his sister’s marriage remains intact.
