Sonam Kapoor is supposedly your co-star in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Increasingly, we see your co-stars getting younger..
First thing, I don’t really know whether Sonam is my co-star in the film. Normally, I don’t get into discussions with the directors about the cast. Besides, my children don’t care about who I am acting alongside. They call everyone by their first name. Certain films require young people. Like Om Shanti Om and Chak De… required new actors. And young people have a different approach, so I have to find a new way of enactment.
How close do you get to your real self, onscreen?
The closest I got to myself in life in was in Kaun Banega Crorepati, where there was no script. No dialogues were worked out. I met the people two minutes before the show. So there I presented a part of me. I think there was a certain aspect of Kabir Khan in me.
What is the scene between you and Mithun Chakrabarty, now that he has bought a team of the ICL?
I have acted alongside over 209 actors. Doesn’t mean I dislike all of them. If someone is entering into as venture, it is completely his or her business. I have known Mithunda for years and I am a big fan of him. I even dance like Mithunda. I am fond of his son as well, who is soon going to be launched.
And with Preity Zinta (who owns Kings XI Punjab)?
She is a very close friend of mine but it will not be a Shahrukh vs Preity team. It will be a game of cricket between Kolkata and Punjab. For all my friends it will be a game of cricket.
Would you be the face of your team during the matches as well?
Of course. I can do anything for my team. After all I have invested so much money. The team will hit the road in April 18 and I am handling the entertainment.
There are reports that you approached stars like Bipasha Basu to act in the promotional video.
I am hearing this for the first time in Delhi.
How come you are playing a second fiddle in your home production Billoo Barber?
Well, I just landed the role in it incidentally. It is Irrfan (Khan) who is playing the lead role of a poor barber while I play a small part. The film will go on the floors in April.
Would you like your son to grow up to be an actor like you?
All I can say is that I don’t like competition even at home.
