Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj, has joined the long list of Indian films that have managed to make a place for themselves at the Oscar library. The film which did average business at the box office starred the three Bachchans – Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya together for the first time.
The script will be permanently housed in the library and will be available to students and other filmmakers for reference and study. The library has a huge collection of not only scripts but also books, photographs, periodicals and manuscripts as well as musical scores and recordings plus costume sketches, artifacts and oral histories.
Sarkar Raj will join Devdas, Kal Ho Na Ho, Lagaan, Lage Raho Munnabhai and Namastey London in the shelves.
Ram Gopal Verma confirmed the news saying “Yes, the academy got in touch with me and Sarkar Raj is going to the library. I am happy to receive this honour.”
The library has a collection of more than 32000 books, 1800 periodical titles, 60000 screenplays, over eight million photographs, over 300 manuscripts and other special collections relating to prominent industry individuals, studios and organisations.
With such a prestigious honor RGV sure has reason to smile.
