Aamir Khan’s directional debut Taare Zameen Par has made an official entry into Oscar. The film has a bright chance of winning the award as it deals with a sensitive subject of an eight years old child suffering from dyslexia, the film has a mass appeal and it has touched the emotional chords of the audience.From Ladakh, Aamir has expressed his happiness on the selection of the film which means a lot to him, he quips, “It is a film that is extremely close to my heart. It first sensitized me as a parent and as a person and then went on to have the same effect on the audiences in India and across the globe.”I hope that it has an equally strong impact on the members of the Academy as well,” Aamir has been quoted as saying.The film received a huge applause all around and its box-office collection was also stupendous. To secure an entry into the Oscars, TZP beats other contenders like Jodhaa Akbar, A Wednesday, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Rock On, Black And White and two Marathi films and one Telugu movie. In 2001 also Aamir was very close to Oscar for Lagaan. Hope, TZP will lend him the status he deserves but has missed once.
