Vivek Oberoi out of Generation X

Vivek Oberoi is once again angry. This time it’s filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia who has seemingly rubbed him the wrong way. Apparently, during the filming of Mission Istanbul, Vivek wasn’t too pleased with the way Apoorva worked. Moreover, he was not satisfied with the little mileage he got in the film’s promos. As a result, Vivek decided to not take part in any of the promotional activities held for the film and it flopped at the box-office. Now, it’s a different issue that the film would have flopped either ways considering the extremely dull response meted out by the audience. Apparently, Vivek is so upset by the film that he blames Apoorva for everything that went wrong. What’s more, he even backed out of working in Apoorva’s forthcoming venture, Generation X. Looks like the Company boy has no company to turn to thanks to his volatile temper. Even his father, veteran actor, Suresh Oberoi, has decided to stay away from his son’s career. Despite the many awards and critical acclaim he has received, Vivek doesn’t seem to be a part of any Bollywood camp.
Also, how can we forget that he suffers from the foot-in-mouth syndrome?

After all, Vivek has almost practiced the art of shooting off the mouth and then apologizing for the thoughtless act. First, he addressed the Shehenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan as ‘dude’. It didn’t take long for him to realize that it was more a sign of disrespect than a casual utterance. Soon he spoke to Abhishek Bachchan and he in turn spoke to the Big B and settled the matter. However, things weren’t as smooth when he got into a fight with Salman Khan. No amount of public apologies could calm matters down with Sallu. In fact, Vivek’s stunt just got him another tag of being hungry for publicity. We wonder if there is anything at all that Vivek can do to get back on the right track.
