Indians from all over the Caribbean flocked to the Queen’s Park Oval at Trinidad to watch Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya dance to the tunes of their hit songs as part of their Unforgettable Tour.

Trinidad was the second leg of the tour, which kicked off in Toronto, Canada, on July 18. Since Trinidad was the only Caribbean stop, Indians flew in for Sunday’s show by chartered planes from Suriname, Guyana and Jamaica.

After a short delay caused by an electrical outage, the show was put on the road by the Caribbean’s noted master of ceremonies Shamoon Mohammed. Seventeen-year-old Shivanna Ragoonanan held the audience’s attention with her renditions of both Trinidad and Indian’s national anthems on the steel pan.

After that there was no looking back as Preity Zinta and Akshay Kumar prepared the crowd for an enthusiastic song and dance extravaganza with their brilliant performances. Preity set the tone with a couple of scintillating renditions, including Pretty Woman from her film Kal Ho Na Ho. Large screens had been put up at the Oval to ensure everyone was able to see their favourite stars perform.

Riteish Deshmukh and Vishal Shekhar took over from Preity and Akshay. Then Abhishek was on the frontline, interacting with the crowd, which included former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday, MP Kamla Persad Bissessar, cultural activist Ajeet Praimsingh and acting director of the Gandhi Cultural Centre Shantosh Misra.

Abhishek recalled that he had come to Trinidad 25 years ago with his father and had a very memorable stay. He thrilled the audience with his electrifying performance of songs from Dus and Bunty Aur Babli.

Aishwarya Rai got a standing ovation as she took to the stage. She came. She saw. She conquered. She sang and danced, ably supported by her cast on stage and from the audience. The former Miss World was dynamic, thrilling and decisive. She knew what the audience wanted and came prepared to deliver it.

The audience jumped to their feet when the Big B took control of the show. Some danced while others sang along as he performed several hits, including Rang Barse and Pichkaree.

It was truly Amitabh’s show. His mesmeric presence on the stage would continue to linger in the hearts and minds of all those who came to see him perform.

Outwardly Salman and Shahrukh shows that they are close buddy and share a good rapport but the truth is something different which they had kept hidden from all. The true color of their friendship came into forefront when Sallu invited Shahrukh on Katrina’s birthday bash and insulted him in presence of all. On Salman’s rowdy comments, Shahrukh lost his temper and went ahead to hit him. Situation would have worsen if Gauri Khan (Shahrukh’s wife) may not have intervened and controlled the situation. Actually cold war started between them when Shahrukh refused to appear in Sallu’s home production Main Aur Mrs Khanna. Whereas Salman never refused SRK and always had been ready to help him. Sallu appeared in SRK’s KBC with Katrina Kaif, he has also done a cameo in Om Shanti Om. Salman remarked SRK matlabi (selfish) and said, “You are a matlabi insaan. You only call people when you need them, and then don’t keep in touch.”

When Gauri and Shahrukh entered, Salman was drunk up to neck and had a least sense that he was insulting his guest and went on passing sarcastic comments at Shahrukh. He also remarked badly about Paanchvi Paas and called it a flop show.

Ever since Darsheel Safary became the youngest superstar of Bollywood getting nominated with Shah Rukh Khan for the best-actor award in the popular awards and all, rumours have been running wild about which film Darsheel would do next.

After the release of Taare Zameen Par the young prodigy’s parents were very sure that the boy would now concentrate on his studies and go back to his normal life.

But then the offers got more and more lucrative. The going price for Darsheel is apparently 75 lakh rupees.

And the one tempting Darsheel out of his determination to stay away from the movies is Sanjay Dutt.

The film to be produced by Suniel Shetty’s Popcorn Entertainment proposes to bring Dutt and Darsheel together.

Entitled Dedh (1 ½ ) the comedy is to be helmed by the 123 director Ashwani Dheer.

Says Ashwin, “Sanjay Dutt is final for the project. We need to work out the dates. As for the boy, yes we do want Darsheel and are trying for him. Let’s see, ”

Dheer isn’t the only director wooing Darsheel for a post-TZP encore. Several other filmmakers have the same idea.

Debutante director Vikram Singh’s forthcoming mama-bhanja tale Mastang Mama which stars Ruslaan Mumtaz as the young and hip Uncle wants Dasrsheel to play the nephew.

Says Ruslaan, “It about two brats one grownup and the other a kid. Darsheel would be ideal. But I believe he’s too expensive.”

The cross-generation child-adult dramas which started with Amitabh Bachchan and Ayesha Kapoor in Sanjay Bhansali’s Black are here to stay.

Even as the Big B returns to play little Aman Siddiqui ’s ghost-dost in Vivek Sharma’s Bhootnath, several other directors are readying projects about the child and his guardian-angel.

But nothing like a film that pitches a big star against little Darsheel.

Says a source, “See, the Sanjay Dutt film with another kid is just one more film. But Dutt and Darsheel. Dat rocks!”

News of fighting between Bollywood Khans has already divided industry in two parties. Now report is in air that Sanjay Dutt will play as a mediator to resolve Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan brawl issue. According to different media reports, SRK and Sallu both arrived in Captown to see Sanjay Dutt whom both consider with great respect. Sanjay Dutt is working on shooting of a movie in South Africa. Sanju went over the issue and said that he was greatly shocked with the episode presented by both Khans. He was further saying that the whole situation should have been avoided by ignoring comments or by taking it in good humor. Sanjay Dutt also said that if you don’t like somebody you should not invite and when you invite then it is a duty of host to give respect with great care to his guest. It was noted that he was pointing fingers at Salman Khan of all situation.

Well the great fight is over. Now both Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khaat the studios. SRK is shooting for the Priyadarshan directed Billoo Barber while Salman is busy with Subhash Ghai’s Yuvraaj. But while one of them is playing a model actor the other is still being his petulant self. Priyadrashan, it seems, is totally bowled over by SRK’s dedication. The actor, who was otherwise constantly known to be on his cellphone, has apparently, switched off his mobile as he does not want to be disturbed by unwanted calls. Maybe he just wants to avoid any calls talking about the fight. Who knows? But the result is that SRK’s behaviour has really impressed Priyadarshan. The director is bowled over by the actor’s dedication and hard work. The actor is not using his cellphone at all on the sets. He joins actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, who too never use their phones when on the set. Priyadarshan is ecstatic about SRK the actor and SRK the producer. Both have given him a free hand to shoot the film as he pleases. What more could any director want.

Shahid Kapur and Vidya Balan starrer Kismat Konnection has opened to a worldwide gross box office collection of more than Rs 27 crore in the opening week. The film was released on more than 900 screens across the globe, including US, UK, Australia, the Middle East and Pakistan. According to UTV, the worldwide distributors of the film directed by Aziz Mirza , ‘Kismat Konnection’ has grossed Rs 20.76 crore with an average per print of Rs 3.75 lakh in India. In the Middle East, the film did a total business of Rs 1.12 crore. Opening numbers in the Middle East are the third highest for a Hindi film in 2008 after Race and Jodhaa Akbar . In the US, the film collected Rs 91.63 lakh till Saturday night while Australia saw a weekend collection of Rs 18.46 lakh. In Australia, the film had the third highest screen average in 2008 behind ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘Mamma Mia’.

In UK, the film had a cumulative weekend collection of Rs 95.51 lakh whereas, in Pakistan, the film had a bigger opening day than Race and Goal with Rs 9.6 lakh on Friday. Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures said that the opening weekend collections of ‘Kismat Konnection’ around the world demonstrates the value of backing strong content with aggressive marketing and distribution.

There is a strong buzz that veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra has offered top actress Katrina Kaif the female lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in his next directorial venture after ‘Veer-Zaara’. If sources are to be believed, Chopra made the offer to a thrilled Katrina (via a phone call) on her birthday, that is 16th July. As far as the confirmation of the above is concerned, despite many attempts, Yash Raj Films’ spokesperson could not be contacted. As may be recalled, Katrina is already doing a film directed by Kabir Khan for Yash Raj Films, opposite John Abraham and Neil Mukesh.

Rani Mukherjee is paying heavily for her loyalty to the Chopras and the Yash Raj banner. Her last three films with them, Tara Rum Pum, Laaga Chunri Main Daag and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic have all turned out to be duds at the box office. But it seems that her well wishers in Yash Raj too are concerned about her.
According to sources, Aditya Chopra has already announced a film with Rani and Shahid Kapur. He wanted to start another project with Akshay Kumar and Rani, but the actor refused to play along. It seems that after the debacle of Tashan, the actor is not too keen to work with the banner. His second reason for refusing the offer was that he is not too keen to work opposite Rani. It seems that when he was not as big as he is now, Rani had refused to work opposite him in Tanuja Chandra’s Sangharsh and Vikram Bhatt’s Awara Pagal Deewana. So now it’s pay back time. He definitely is in no mood to forgive and forget. The problem that Rani faces is that she has very few heroes who she can work opposite. Her regulars like Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan have already moved on, so has Salman. Things are not the same between her and Abhishek Bachchan anymore after his wedding. That hardly leaves her with too many options. But it’s heartening to hear that the Yash Raj banner appreciates her loyalty.

Boy wonder Shaahid Kapur is smiling a lot these days. The reason, from his film Kismat Konnection’s release, is the great time he had shooting for it. Now, before you start imagining him with Vidya Balan behind the scenes, let us inform you that he’s only cherishing his experience of working with Aziz Mirza. Turns out the actor’s been mighty impressed with the senior director and breaks into an adorable smile while recollecting the latter’s reserved, simple nature.
Apparently, an actor who was required for a couple of scenes in the film didn’t turn up for the shoot. So, Shaahid and the crew decided to rope in Aziz to do the cameo himself. They did all they could to convince him that as the scene was at the start of the film, it would prove lucky. “Just when I had personally started styling his (Aziz) hair for the shoot, he made an excuse and managed to cleverly wiggle out of it,” he laughs. Shaahid also captured a lot of special moments on location with his camera. “The best picture is of a 10-month-old Chinese kid,” he says with a crinkly smile.

Work has often kept Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor away from each other. But for this one time, the lovers are united by work. After accompanying Saif on the sets of Imtiaz Ali’s film in London for about a week, Kareena had gone to Los Angeles to shoot Kambakht Ishq with Akshay Kumar while Saif continued shooting in London. The lovers were separated again by work. But now, Saif is also headed to the US. However, this time it is not exclusively to be with Bebo (as he has done umpteen times in the past) but to shoot the second schedule of his first home production with Imtiaz Ali in San Francisco. While in the US, though Saif and Bebo won’t be in the same city, whenever they miss each other all they have to do is catch a flight and they could be together again within hours. In fact, the buzz is that Saif deliberately planned a US schedule for his movie because he knew that Bebo would be shooting there around the same time. However, director Imtiaz Ali denies this. He says the US schedule was planned long way back. After the US schedule, the film’s shooting would be about 90 percent complete. The remaining portions will be shot in North India.
